Noon Care / Using Alexa to assist elderly people in their home

2024
Noon Care represents an unexpected combination of care and technology, a project that stems from the desire to concretely address an unresolved issue, namely allowing vulnerable and elderly individuals to remain in the comfort of their own homes without sacrificing quality care. The idea of Noon Care is based on a deep respect for the individual: technology molds around those in need of assistance and those providing it. It's an ethical technology, whose purpose is not only to offer a service but to embrace and accompany those in need, seeking to eliminate the sense of loneliness and isolation that often becomes part of daily life. Accessibility and inclusivity are also fundamental aspects, as Noon care aims to position itself as a solution within reach of everyone, both economically and functionally. It's not just a technology but rather an aggregator of existing elements and services that optimizes and enhances the already established work of social and healthcare operators without distorting or replacing their value. Noon Care will be scalable according to the needs of the recipients, with lighter versions for more autonomous individuals and complete packages for a fully structured assistance. The model will be adaptable to any increase in needs over time. How does Noon Care work? Through an Amazon Echo Show 8 device with Alexa integration, activated by voice with simple commands like "Alexa, call an operator," people can get in touch with operators to learn about interesting initiatives planned in the neighborhood, as well as receive useful reminders about appointments, deadlines, and routines to follow. The project is currently being integrated to add environmental sensors to predict and intervene in problematic situations, allowing the dedicated operator to act promptly. It's a technology that acts as a support rather than as main player, forming a refined and complex system of services for vulnerable individuals.
